LA Fashion Week
Fall I 2003
March 30–April 8, 2003

Los Angeles designers put on a great show during the March 30–April 8 run of Los Angeles Fashion Week.

More than 60 events were held around the city, but this season most shows were consolidated into two venues: the Downtown Standard Hotel, where IMG hosted Mercedes-Benz Shows L.A., and Smashbox Studios in Culver City, where Smashbox Fashion Week was held.

Still, there were independent events held downtown, in Hollywood, in the Miracle Mile district and on the Westside of Los Angeles.

California Apparel News has been covering Los Angeles Fashion Week in several issues. This coverasge is archived here on www.apparelnews.net: Review Part One: published on April 4, 2003..., Review Part Two: published on April 11, 2003...

Packed with plenty of “prêt-a-crochet” and featuring a dancer showing off a few grand jetés, Angelrox’s Fall 2003 runway show leaped into Los Angeles Fashion Week on April 2 at the Park Plaza Hotel.

Designer Roxi Suger’s “soft, soothing and romantic” collection featured wearable clothes with rich coffee-shop colors— mocha, espresso and chocolate— accented with pretty pastels. These Suger combined with crocheted accessories, including caps, gloves and lots of leg warmers. Key looks from the collection were “suger” briefs, bows, layers, leggings and girly dresses that suggested storylines ranging from sorority slumber parties to ballet rehearsals to dates with boyfriends.

BBC USA producers documented the Angelrox design team’s activities— from the design process to the fashion show— for a new fashion-industry reality show that will air this fall on the TLC cable network.
